Types of apps

Before you start creating your Gorgias app you need to choose between two types:

Private apps

These apps should be used if you only plan to access your own Gorgias account data.

• You don't need to follow any special process to create a private app.
• For the authentication method, you can use Access Tokens.

Public apps

These apps are published in our in-product and public App Stores and are available to thousands of shop owners.

• You need to follow a specific process which includes setting up OAuth2 authentication for your app and a review of the app by the Gorgias team.
