Change AI Agent's sales settings (beta)Updated a month ago

When a shopper visits your website, AI Sales Agent observes their shopping activity and interest level in order to intelligently engage in pre-sales conversations.

You can control how AI Agent shows up to these conversations by adjusting its persuasion settings to align with your brand’s preferred approach to selling. You can also control AI Agent’s use of discount codes to encourage a purchase.

Requirements

Change AI Agent’s persuasion level

By adjusting AI Agent’s persuasion settings, you control how proactive and assertive the AI is in guiding shoppers toward a purchase.

For example, an Educational approach means the AI prioritizes asking questions and sharing product details. Whereas with a more Assertive approach, the AI focuses on urgency and direct recommendations to close sales.

  1. From the main menu, go to AI Agent
  2. Select your store from the sidebar, then select Sales
  3. Click and drag the slider to change AI Agent’s persuasion level. Choose one of the following options:

    • Educational: the AI prioritizes guidance and education, with minimal sales pressure
    • Balanced: the AI maintains a mix of education and persuasion, encouraging purchases while still being helpful
    • Assertive: the AI focuses on urgency and direct product recommendations to close sales quickly
  4. Select Save Changes to finish

How persuasion level affects AI’s conversations

Your persuasion setting informs how AI Agent interacts with shoppers at each stage of the buying journey. AI Agent identifies the shopper’s buying stage (level of interest) based on their browsing activity.

The following table shows how AI Agent adapts its conversations based on your preferred persuasion level and the shoppers’ level of interest.

Set a discount strategy for AI Agent

You can choose how often AI Agent uses discounts to nudge shoppers toward a purchase, as well as the maximum discount amount. The AI offers discounts based on your preferred persuasion level and the shopper’s buying stage (level of interest).

When AI Agent offers a discount, it creates a new unique discount code in your Shopify admin, limited to a single use.

  1. From the main menu, go to AI Agent
  2. Select your store from the sidebar, then select Sales
  3. Click and drag the slider to change AI Agent’s persuasion level

    • Choose an option of the scale between No Discount and Maximized (frequent use of discounts)
  4. Enter a Maximum Discount Percentage
    • This sets the maximum discount that AI Agent can offer
    • The value must be between 0 and 100%
  5. Select Save Changes to finish
