Our phone provider - Twilio - mandates that all US-bound messages sent by 10-digit SMS numbers are allowed only if they've completed the A2P 10DLC registration process.
A2P 10DLC stands for Application-to-Person (A2P) type messaging via Standard 10-digit long code (10DLC) phone numbers. It's a service offered by carriers to support businesses texting customers through 10-digit long codes by increasing the deliverability and throughput of SMS messages.
To use it, carriers require additional registration as well as registration fees and per-message carrier fees.
If you're the owner of a 10-digit USA-based SMS number in Gorgias or use a Gorgias number to communicate with customers who own US numbers, you're required to complete this registration as US carriers will reject SMS messages sent by unregistered numbers.
You can check out the registration best practices by Twilio, but all necessary charges and registration fees will be covered by Gorgias.
Since A2P-10DLC registration involves multiple parties, please take into consideration that it usually lasts 10-14 days.
