Outlook AliasUpdated 3 days ago

This guide will help you to configure Outlook alias integrations in Gorgias.

Ensure you’re logged into your Gorgias account as an Admin and logged into the Outlook account with alias(es) you're trying to configure.

What is an alias?

An alias is an alternative email address that feeds into a primary inbox.

i.e: John at your organization has the primary email address "[email protected]", but he also wants to receive email at "[email protected]".

John created the alias "[email protected]", therefore emails sent to both email addresses go to John's inbox.

Set up email forward for each alias

Currently it’s not possible to configure a single alias email address. Therefore to ensure an effective setup where all the incoming emails are attached to the corresponding integration (recipient address), we highly recommend that you create an integration for each alias your Outlook inbox has, aside from the primary email address.

Follow these steps to forward emails for each alias you create, including your primary email address. You only need to configure the inbox forwarding setting once.

Every email that reaches your Outlook inbox will be forwarded to Gorgias and attached to the corresponding address, either it’s the primary one or an alias.

ℹ️ In case there’s no need for filtering and granularity in regards to recipient address (primary or aliases), you may skip the step of creating an integration for each alias and just add your primary email address, as all the emails will still appear in Gorgias.

Outlook Rules

⚠️ Important: do not use Outlook rules as a method for forwarding email to Gorgias. Use Outlook's email forwarding as the method. Rules are not a reliable way to forward emails and do not always behave as expected.

Domain Verification

All forwarding integrations require domain verification, to ensure maximum deliverability of emails. Please check out our dedicated article and go through the steps there.
