Who can use this feature?
Shopping Assistant adapts its conversations based on 2 settings you control: selling style and discount strategy. Together, these determine how proactively Shopping Assistant engages shoppers, when it makes recommendations, and how often it offers discount codes.

Change your selling style
Your selling style controls how proactively Shopping Assistant engages shoppers — how quickly it makes recommendations, when it introduces discounts, and how assertively it tries to close a sale.
There are 3 selling styles: Educational, Moderate, and Promotional. For a full description of each, see Shopping Assistant explained.
To change your selling style:
- From the main menu, go to AI Agent, then click Shopping Assistant.
- If you have more than 1 Shopify store connected to Gorgias, use the dropdown at the top of the AI Agent menu to select a store.
- Select the Strategy tab.
- Drag the slider to select your selling style: Educational, Moderate, or Promotional.
- Click Save changes.
How selling style shapes conversations
Selling style works together with buying intent — where a shopper is in their journey. The same selling style produces different behavior depending on whether a shopper is casually browsing or ready to buy.

Change your discount strategy
Your discount strategy controls how often Shopping Assistant generates unique discount codes to nudge shoppers toward a purchase. Shopping Assistant uses judgment to decide when a shopper's behavior actually warrants a code — your strategy sets how aggressively it applies that judgment.
You also set the fixed discount percentage Shopping Assistant can offer.

- From the main menu, go to AI Agent, then click Shopping Assistant.
- If you have more than 1 Shopify store connected to Gorgias, use the dropdown at the top of the AI Agent menu to select a store.
- Select the Strategy tab.
- Drag the slider to select your discount strategy: No discount, Conservative, Strategic, or Generous.
- Enter a Fixed discount % to set the discount amount Shopping Assistant can offer.
- Click Save changes.
