Add voicemail to a call flow
You can send callers to voicemail by building it into your call flow. You can add multiple voicemail steps to a single integration for when you want a custom voicemail greeting for different branches of the call flow. For example, if you have an IVR menu step in your call flow that allows callers to choose a language, you can add a voicemail step to each branch of the menu, and record a voicemail greeting in the matching language.
- From your helpdesk, click the Settings icon in the bottom-left corner.
- In the menu, locate Channels, then select Voice.
- From the Integrations tab, select an integration from the list.
- Click the Call Flow tab to open the call flow editor.
- Click the Add step icon on a branch in the call flow, then select Send to voicemail.
- Click the dropdown menu and select either Text-to-speech or Custom recording, then type a message or upload a recording to use as the Voicemail greeting.
- If you’d like the caller to leave a Voicemail message, check the box next to Allow caller to leave a voicemail. If you leave this unchecked, the caller will hear your greeting message, then the call will end.
- Click Save Changes.
Tip: We recommend that every branch of your call flow ends with either a Send to voicemail or Send to SMS step, so that if callers are waiting in a queue and reach the maximum wait time, the call doesn’t end abruptly.
