Create or request a new Gorgias phone numberUpdated an hour ago

You can create a new phone number in Gorgias in order to communicate with customers. Your phone number can be used to make and receive calls from Gorgias (with the Voice add-on), send SMS messages (with SMS add-on) or message on WhatsApp.

Gorgias offers multiple phone numbers (local, mobile, toll-free and national) for various countries including Canada, the United States, Australia, France, United Kingdom and more. See the full list of available numbers.

If you have an existing phone number with another service provider, you can port your number to Gorgias instead.

Create a new phone number

There are several phone numbers that you can create directly in Gorgias without any wait time or additional documentation.

In some cases, you’ll be asked to enter a business address for verification. Learn more about available phone numbers you can create in Gorgias.

  1. Go to Settings > Phone numbers from the main menu
  2. Select Add Phone Number
  3. Enter a Phone number name

    • For example “North America – Main Support Line”
  4. Select a Country and Type from the dropdown menu

    • You can select different types of phone numbers (local, mobile, toll-free) for different countries. Learn more.
    • If you select a country/phone number type that cannot be created directly in Gorgias, you will be prompted to request the phone number from our team.
  5. Select an Area code
  6. Select Add Phone Number to finish

Request a new phone number

If the phone number you want to acquire cannot be created directly in Gorgias, you can submit a request to our team.

Due to regulations in different countries, Gorgias needs to acquire some types of phone numbers on your behalf, typically within 1-2 weeks. You may be required to submit accompanying documentation in the form of a business registration excerpt or a copy of government-issued ID.

How do you know if you need to request a phone number?

Enable voice and messaging capabilities

Once you have acquired a phone number, you can enable Voice, SMS and WhatsApp integrations to communicate with customers (requires Voice or SMS add-on with your subscription).

An integration gives your phone number the ability to use Voice, SMS and WhatsApp as a communication channel. It also allows you to create custom workflows per integration using Rules, as well as filter data by integration in your Statistics.

You can use the same phone number across Voice, SMS and WhatsApp (so long as your phone number supports these capabilities).

  1. Go to Settings > Phone numbers
  2. Select a phone number from the list
  3. Select + Add Integration next to Voice, SMS or WhatsApp
  4. Follow the steps to set up the integration with your phone number

Edit or delete an existing phone number

You can edit an existing phone number to change its name or update its Voice, SMS or WhatsApp integrations.

You can also delete a phone number if you no longer need it. You must delete any Voice, SMS or WhatsApp integrations before you can delete a phone number.

  1. Go to Settings > Phone numbers
  2. Select a phone number from the list to make changes

    • Update Title to change the phone number’s name
    • To add Voice, SMS or WhatsApp to the phone number, select + Add Integration under Connected Integrations
    • To delete a phone number that has no connected integrations, select Delete Number then Confirm
  3. Select Save Changes to finish
