Shopify plan requirements
Apps that customize the information of the checkout page, including Gorgias Chat, are available only to brands with Shopify Plus.
Brands with any Shopify plan (Basic or higher) can customize the thank you page.

Gorgias Chat requirements
- Before you can add Chat to the checkout or thank you pages on Shopify, you must use Quick Installation for Shopify to add Chat to the non-checkout pages on your store.
- Quick install automatically adds Chat to your Shopify store’s theme. You can then decide whether to show Chat on all pages or hide Chat on specific pages.
- If you have chosen to manually add Gorgias Chat to your store with an embed code, you will not be able to use Gorgias Chat on the checkout or thank you pages.
Adding Chat to your checkout pages on Shopify
Once you’ve added Chat to your Shopify theme using the Quick Install method in Gorgias, you can add Chat to your checkout or thank you pages on Shopify using the checkout editor.
- Sign in to your Gorgias account
- Go to Settings > Chat, then select a Chat
- The Chat must have been added to your Shopify store using the Quick Install method.
- Next to Shopify checkout and thank you pages, select Install
- A new browser tab will open to take you to the checkout editor in Shopify
- On the checkout editor, select Apps from the sidebar
- Select + (plus) icon next to Gorgias Checkout Chat
- Choose the page where you want to Chat to appear (Checkout or Thank you page)
- Select Save to confirm
Removing Chat from your checkout pages
If for whatever reason you need to remove Gorgias Chat from your checkout or thank you pages, you can remove the app in the Shopify checkout editor.
- From your Shopify admin, go to Settings > Checkout
- Select Customize next to the checkout configuration that you want to edit
- On the checkout editor, select Apps from the sidebar
- Select Gorgias Checkout Chat from the list
- Select Remove app block
- Select Save to confirm
FAQ
Can I customize the appearance or location of the Chat widget on checkout pages?
While you can change the location of the Gorgias Chat widget on non-checkout pages, the position of the Chat widget on the checkout and thank you pages is determined by Shopify and cannot be changed.
Furthermore, any HTML or CSS customization you make to Chat in the Shopify theme editor will not affect Chat on your checkout pages.
Do Automate features work on checkout pages?
Yes, your favourite Automate features, like Flows, Order Management and AI Agent work with Chat on the checkout and thank you pages.
Can I publish a separate Chat on my checkout pages only?
Since you can only add one Chat per Shopify store, it’s not possible to create a separate, specific Chat for your checkout pages. When you install Chat on your store using the Quick Installation method, you can choose to hide Chat on specific pages.
Are there any other Chat limitations on checkout pages?
Any Chat campaigns that you have set up are not permitted on checkout pages and will not display to shoppers.
